About Low Slope
Low Slope is a bright light roast of Ethiopian, Mexican and Brazilian beans, made for crews who start before sunrise. It is lively and complex without being sharp: fresh fruit up front, citrus behind it, and a light body that keeps it easy to drink by the thermos.
It sits at 4/12 on our pitch rating, right next to Skylight. Where Skylight leans toward blackberry and caramel, Low Slope stays brighter and fruitier.
Why we named it Low Slope
A low-slope roof is one with very little pitch, commonly anything below about 3/12 or 4/12 depending on who is defining it. Low-slope roofs usually get membrane systems instead of shingles, and the whole job is about drainage, because standing water (ponding) is what kills them. Hence the tagline: never ponds.
That is the idea behind every coffee in the lineup: each one is named after a piece of the job and rated on our roof-pitch scale. Low Slope sits at 4/12. Read more roofing terms in our roofing glossary.
How to brew Low Slope
- Pour-over: A slow pour shows off the fruit and brightness in lighter roasts.
- Drip machine: The job-trailer standard. Measure it right and it tastes like it should.
- Cold brew: Make a jug the night before for the roofs that hit triple digits.
